 ind them in nature\, architecture or a simple wallpaper design\, patterns 
 surround us\, imbued with the power to inspire\, evoke memories and help u
 s tell our stories. Hamilton artist Stephen Altena employs patterns and de
 corative motifs as the basis for his artwork. In this workshop\, you&rsquo
 \;ll experiment with the creation of basic patterns using paint through de
 monstrations and exercises provided by the instructor. Some previous paint
 ing experience is recommended. All materials provided.&nbsp\; <br /><br />
 <br /><strong>About the Instructor</strong><br />Stephen Altena was born i
 n Hamilton\, Ontario.&nbsp\; He is a graduate of Redeemer College Universi
 ty.&nbsp\; He is also a graduate of the Independent Study Program at Dunda
 s Valley School Of Art\, under the instruction of John Wilkinson and Susan
  Detwiler.&nbsp\; He has shown his work at Transit Gallery\, Toronto Outdo
 or Exhibit\, Hamilton Public Library\, Hoop Gallery\, and has sold works t
 hrough the Art Gallery Of Hamilton&rsquo\;s Art Sale And Rental Gallery.&n
 bsp\; Along with Andrew McPhail\, he is the cofounder of The Hundred Dolla
 r Gallery\, which hosted the first ever Hamilton Biennale.<br />&nbsp\;</p
