 , at The American University. He is a life-long science fiction fan and av
 id amateur astronomer. Novotny has held senior executive positions in the 
 aerospace industry at Hughes Electronics and Lockheed Martin and is a form
 er US Air force officer. He lives in Fairfax Station\, Virginia\, with his
