Celebrate Kentucky Derby week with local a uthor Elaine Corum Strawn as she shares the life and career of her grandfa ther\, sports writer Bill Corum\, who coined the phrase the "Run for the R oses" in 1925 to describe the Derby. Born in Boonville\, MO\, Corum receiv ed his first degree in journalism from Mizzou before going off to fight in World War I. He was president of the Kentucky Derby for nearly a decade\, until his death in 1958. Strawn will discuss her grandfather's life throu gh the lens of his autobiography "Off &\; Running\," as well as her own book "Kiddie &\; the Major\," a fictoinalized account of her grandparents meeting and marriage in t he 1920s.
