DESCRIPTION:This Earth Day\, join LA County Librarian Skye Patrick in conv
ersation with Dr. Anthony Wexler\, Director of the Air Quality Research Ce

X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>It&rsquo\;s been a rough one for the air q
uality here in LA County. Smog\, dust\, dirt\, and exhaust are a part of o
ur everyday lives here in Southern California\, but his winter&rsquo\;s fi
res brought an unprecedented amount of smoke\, ash\, and particulate matte
r to our skies -- and brought concerns about air quality to the forefront
of our minds. Dr. Wexler will be joining us to explain what does an Air Qu
ality Index indicate\, how to keep yourself and your family healthy\, and
how can we all contribute to a cleaner\, healthier sky.</p>\n<p>Dr. Wexler
&rsquo\;s work focuses on the ways air pollution travels through the atmos
phere to airways and affects different parts of the body. He uses experime
nts\, crunches numbers\, and takes into account theories in physics to do
his research. Members of Dr. Wexler&rsquo\;s laboratory are developing new
instruments for measuring air pollution and meteorology related to air po
llution transport\, new mathematical techniques for modeling air pollution
dynamics and thermodynamics\, and new exposure paradigms for understandin
g the neurological and cardiopulmonary health effects of air pollution.&nb

ing network for the National Parks Service and performs chemical analysis
for the Chemical Speciation Network for the Environmental Protection Agenc
