X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Joseph Robidoux\, the city's founder\,&nbs
p\; would let families stay at the Row rent free while their houses were b
eing built near the downtown area. Later\, persons who were traveling west
often stayed at Robidoux Row while waiting for their wagons to be ferried
across the river or during the long hard winters. In 1857 Joseph Robidoux
moved to the east apartment of the Row after his wife Angelique died\, an
d spent the last eleven years of his life there. Archeological diggings an
d restoration of the Row took place in the 1970s\, a new gallery was const
ructed in the 1980s\, and the museum now has numerous galleries and displa
ys highlighting various aspects of St. Joseph history.</p>\nhttps://rhcl.l
