Weight stigma is a pervasive and serious f orm of discrimination and bigotry in the United States that leads to decre ased wages\, less access to medical care and has been linked to shortened& nbsp\;life expectancy. Often we avoid this hard conversation because of th e belief that mistreating or judging people in larger bodies is a health-p romoting behavior. In this workshop\, with weight discrimination expert an d author Virgie Tovar\, we'll clear up once and for all that using weight as the basis for differential treatment does not promote health.
