 the MLK Library's spring exhibit with a closing video screening and artist
  talk with Jessica Fairfax Hirst AKA Palmer Fishman.<br /><br />Jessica Fa
 irfax Hirst is a multidisciplinary artist\, working primarily in performan
 ce\, video\, installation and 3D collage. The artist will be presenting he
 r two-channel video\, <em>FRONTERA</em>. Shot in 2017\, <em>FRONTERA</em> 
 juxtaposes two drastically different borders on two channels: on the left\
 , an area of the border between Germany and the Netherlands\, both members
  of the European Union\, where bicyclists can cross at will\, and a childr
 en's playground straddles the border such that one can climb up a ladder i
 n Germany and slide down into Holland. On the right\, a lone figure makes 
 her way from the United States\, where San Diego meets the ocean\, into Ti
 juana\, Mexico.</p>\n<p>&nbsp\; &nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<h4><strong>About the 
 exhibit</strong></h4>\n<p>Presented by the local arts organization Love 4 
 Immigrants and guest curated by Salom&eacute\; Cosmique\, a Trauma Informe
 d Teaching Artist and curator\, born in Colombia and currently residing in
  San Juan\, Puerto Rico\,&nbsp\;<em><strong>ARTivism: New Beginnings</stro
 ng></em>&nbsp\;focuses on transforming ourselves and our communities throu
 gh the power of art. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The exhibit explores how creative exp
 ression can heal our pain and traumas\, authentically convey cultural heri
 tage and identities\, and address pressing social and environmental issues
 . It features visual artworks in photography\, painting\, and mixed media 
 by AnaYelsi Velasco Sanchez\, Rama AlFarkh\, and Wole Ajagbe. &nbsp\;</p>\
 n<p>The closing event will be held on Wednesday\, March 28\, 2025\, from 6
 :00-8:00 pm at the MLK Library\, Floor 5\, event space. Join us for a last
  chance to meet one of the presenting artists and view the exhibit.</p>\n<
