  Lorde\, a&nbsp\;self-described &ldquo\;black\, lesbian\, mother\, warrior
 \, poet\,&rdquo\;&nbsp\; within the historical context she wrote in. Dedic
 ating&nbsp\;both her life and talent to confronting and addressing injusti
 ces of racism\, sexism\, classism\, and homophobia as a poet\, scholar\, a
 nd civil rights activist\, she was also New York State's Poet Laureate in 
 the early 1990s. This will be followed by the prompts of the day\, which w
 ill be available for those attendees who would like to write. There will a
 lso be time for sharing of poems and exchanging feedback among participant
 s. The program will take place in the Multi-Purpose Room.</p>\n<p>The Wash
 ington DC-based Vocales Verticales project aims to promote poetry and the 
 arts in Spanish\, as well as to create spaces\, both online and in-person\
