 <p><strong>About the Presenter<br /></strong><a href="https://www.kristinv
 arner.com/illustration-i" target="_blank" rel="noopener" title="Kristin Va
 rner">Kristin Varner</a> is an award-winning author\, illustrator\, and gr
 aphic novelist based in the Pacific Northwest. She grew up in the Rocky Mo
 untains of Utah\, where she fell in love with animals at a young age. Kris
 tin received her degree in illustration from Rhode Island School of Design
  and has created art for children's books\, games\, apparel\, and toys. He
 r two middle grade novels\, <em>Horse Trouble</em> (2021) and <em>Dog Trou
 ble</em> (2024) are both recipients of the ALA Best Graphic Novels for Chi
 ldren Reading List awards. Kristin lives on a wooded island near Seattle\,
  Washington with her husband and daughter and is often distracted while wo
 rking in her studio by one mischievous kitty and one big\, snoozing dog. W
 hen she's not drawing cute animals in her studio\, she's probably out ridi
 ng a bike...or horse!&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Summer Reading Program</stron
