Illinois has a rich and varied archaeologi cal record that spans some 13\,000 years. In this two-part presentation\, we will first explore this record in lecture format\, then interact with h ands-on stations that include different archaeological materials from the Land of Lincoln. After experiencing &ldquo\;Diggin&rsquo\; Illinois\,&rdqu o\; participants will foster a better appreciation for our state&rsquo\;s cultural history\, in addition to the materials archaeologists find during excavation. Altogether\, this presentation will help celebrate Illinois&r squo\; past\, the present\, and the future.
\nDale F. Simpson Jr. (P h.D.\, RPA) is a Senior Scientific Specialist with the Illinois State Arch aeological Survey and an adjunct instructor for College of DuPage. He serv es as a Board Member for the Chicago Archaeological Society and the Illino is Association for Advancement of Archaeology. He is the editor of \;< em>Illinois Antiquity \;and author of numerous books and articles regarding Pacific anthropology\, Rapa Nui (Easter Island)\, and Illinois archaeology.
