 pring Speaker Series! On Saturday\, May 17 at 11am\, Skye will be sitting 
 down with Chef Roy Choi to discuss his journey as a chef\, entrepreneur\, 
 award winning host\, cultural pioneer\, and author.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Food\, 
 culture\, and community are deeply intertwined in Roy's work. Whether he's
  blending the flavors of South Korea and Southern California\, uplifting t
 he culinary magic of street chefs\, exploring the role of gentrification i
 n communities\, or sharing his favorite recipes\, Roy's voice and artistry
  reveal to us the ways that we are all connected and all capable of contri
 buting something great (and delicious!) to our communities.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p
 >Join us for a talk and Q&amp\;A with Roy\, followed by a book signing and
  reception with his award-winning Kogi Korean BBQ truck. The first <strong
 >500 attendees to check in on the day of the event</strong> will receive a
  free taco! A vegetarian option will be available.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><
 strong>This event will be held at the Mira Costa High School Auditorium at

 2 pm</p>\n<p>Roy Choi was born in Seoul\, Korea and raised in Los Angeles\
 , California. Roy is known as one of the architects of the modern food tru
 ck movement through Kogi BBQ by merging food and social media with communi
 ty and honoring the street food culture that laid the path before him. He 
 is the host of the civic-minded Emmy Award winning series &lsquo\;Broken B
 read&rsquo\; on KCET/Tastemade\, which in 2020 won him a James Beard Found
 ation Award for Outstanding Host in a television series. On a global scale
 \, Roy is co-host in the full blown Netflix cooking series 'The Chef Show'
  with Jon Favreau. He is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America.<
 /p>\n<p>In 2010\, Food and Wine magazine named him Best New Chef. His cook
 book/memoir L.A. Son was a NY Times Bestseller in 2013. In 2016 he was nam
 ed TIME 100 Most Influential People in the World. And in 2017\, LocoL in W
 atts\, received the first ever Los Angeles Times Restaurant of the Year aw
 ard.</p>\n<p>Roy resides in Los Angeles where he is a voice and advocate f
 or street food culture past\, present\, and future\, and the co-owner\, co
 -founder\, and chef of Kogi BBQ\, Chego!\, Best Friend and The Chef Truck
