X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>They say that driving the Alaska Canada Hi
ghway (ALCAN) from the Lower 48 to Fairbanks is like driving through a wor
ld class zoo for 1\,800 miles.&nbsp\; From here you can see one of the wor
lds few Kermode bears in British Columbia or a wolf on the tundra under th
e midnight sun in the Northwest Territories. It is also the gateway to wor
ld class hiking\, canoeing and fishing. Add in the opportunity to drive to
the Arctic Ocean\, you&rsquo\;ve got yourself a trip of a lifetime. Come
find out why your presenters\, Jane and Jim Kress\, named their three gold
en retrievers\, Kluane\, Denali and Dawson\, after two world class parks a
nd one of the largest gold discoveries ever.</p>\n<p>Jim Kress was born in
the Alaska Territory before it became a state in 1959. Having driven the
ALCAN numerous times with his wife Jane since the 1970s\, those trips have
peaked their adventuring spirit every time. Whether it&rsquo\;s a three n
ight stay with an Inuvialuit family in Tuktoyaktuk\, the landing of a Cess
na on a glacier in Denali National Park\, observing First Nations children
being taught carving skills on cedar planks\, kayaking in a stream filled
with salmon in southeast Alaska\, wakening to the sunrise camped on the A
rctic Circle\, or just enjoying the unique culture of small towns along th
e way. Each of these have become lifetime memories.</p>\n<p>Come learn how
to plan this trip and how to avoid some of our mistakes. We will also hav
e information about using the Alaska Ferry System. Handouts provided.</p>\
