rong>Robin Werdal</strong> has been an active member of the Central Oregon
Accordion Club for the last three years. They meet once a month for a reh
earsal and then on another day\, they play a one hour concert for the resi
dents at Aspen Ridge.&nbsp\; She learned to play the accordion as a child\
, taking lessons from Joe Carbonatto\, a well known musician in Seattle\,
from the ages of 7 to 14.&nbsp\; She then left it\, but picked it up again
seven years ago at the age of 68\, and has been practicing daily since th
en.</p>\n<p>She currently plays a Petosa Pro Compatto 96 bass accordion\,
made in Italy. She also has an antique accordion that still plays. That on
e is a small Hohner\, only 80 basses. It was made in Germany in 1937. It&r
squo\;s very rare for an accordion of that age to still be playable. She t
akes special pleasure in using it to play Hava Nagila (a traditional Jewis
h celebratory folk song)\, since it was originally made while Hitler was i
n power! She is most fond of the &ldquo\;musette&rdquo\; sound\, which is
famous in French music for the accordion. Both of her accordions have that
sound.</p>\n<p>Robin is a retired RN. She has lived in Bend since 2015. S
he and her husband enjoy remodeling and working in the yard. They have pla
nted 60 trees (mostly pines) and hundreds of native plants in their yard i
n the last ten years. She is also a Reiki volunteer in the Cancer Center a
t St. Charles Medical Center. Robin played in Tin Pan Alley for the last t
wo summers for the Bastille Day celebration put on by San Simon Restaurant
and Bar. She also occasionally busks in front of the Downtown Bend Librar
 y.</p>\n<p>Questions? Contact&nbsp\;<a href="mailto:laurelh@deschuteslibra
