James Wethington will explore the history
of the Little Rock Junior College (LRJC) football team\, the first collegi
ate sports program at what is now UA Little Rock. Tracing its origins in t
he 1930s and its resurgence in the 1940s and 1950s\, the presentation high
lights how the team laid the foundation for UA Little Rock Athletics. Spec
ial attention will be given to the program&rsquo\;s "glory years" in the p
ost-World War II era\, during which LRJC claimed two bowl victories before
the team was ultimately disbanded. \;

Wethington is archivist and engagement coordinator for the UA Little Rock
Center for Arkansas History and Culture (CAHC). Prior to CAHC\, he worked
at the David L. Rice Library's University Archives and Special Collections
department at the University of Southern Indiana for \;six years. He
received \;a bachelor&rsquo\;s degree in history from the University o
f Southern Indiana in 2014 and an MLIS from Indiana University Indianapoli
s in 2019. \;
