  program is specifically targeted to children&nbsp\;<em><strong>5-12 years
  old</strong></em>&nbsp\;who have some ability to read aloud on their own.
 </p>\n<p>This is an independent reading program. Parents and caregivers ar
 e encouraged to let their child read independently with the dog and must r
 emain in the library building during the program.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Library P
 rogram Attendance (both virtual and in the branch) is limited to participa
 nts within the suggested age range of the program. Children attending an M
 CPL program under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults att
 ending a program intended for children must have an accompanying child.</p
