\nThis period in history represen ts one of the darkest chapters for Native peoples. Hair was cut\, and lang uages\, clothing\, prayers\, dances\, and cultural traditions were outlawe d and stripped away in an attempt to erase Native identity. Yet\, through immense tragedy and adversity\, Native communities endured.
\nToday\ , we gather in remembrance and in honor of those who could no longer dance \, speak their language\, or pray in their way. In their spirit\, we now d ance freely\, celebrating the resilience\, strength\, and survival of Nati ve people. This memorial not only acknowledges the pain of the past but al so honors the progress we have made in preserving our languages\, traditio ns\, and cultural ways for future generations.
