About the Featured Poet
c'ic'á\;yx̣ʷmu Rachel Sullivan-Owens is a local Indigenous
poet and author from the nÉ™xÊ·sƛ̕á\;yÌ•É™mÌ•
people\, enrolled with the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe in Sequim. Most recen
tly published in The Yellow Medicine Review\, she dedicates herself to her
family\, her culture\, her community\, and her ongoing education. Rachel&
rsquo\;s work focuses on many themes\, including the 2 Spirit-LGBTQI+ expe
rience\, the reclamation of Klallam Language\, and the nuances of life as
a mother\, wife\, artist\, and teacher.

Ê· House of Learning\, Peninsula College Longhouse \;is the first lo
nghouse built on a community college campus in the nation. The vision of t
he Longhouse to be a center for cultural expression and educational achiev
ement for all students and community members was woven together by Peninsu
la College and six Sovereign Nations: Hoh\, Quileute\, Makah\, Port Gamble
S&rsquo\;Klallam\, Jamestown S&rsquo\;Klallam\, and Lower Elwha Klallam.<

Event Parking
For closest parking access\, p
articipants and attendees are welcome to use the parking lot on the south
side of the soccer field and on the west side of the Allied Health &\;
Early Childhood Education Building (Bldg. K). Parking is available in any
yellow space after 5pm. Follow signs to the event. Two accessible parking
spaces are located directly in front of ʔaʔkʷustəŋ&aacu
te\;w̕txʷ House of Learning\, Peninsula College Longhouse\, and the
building has a ramped entrance.
