Kristen Merryman is the Digital Projects and Outreach
Manager for the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center. She holds over 20
years of experience in the cultural heritage field\, with the majority of
it in institutions across North Carolina. Her work has primarily been in d
igitization of archival materials\, but she has additional expertise in di
gital asset management systems\, metadata\, and what ideal digital access
to archival materials should look like\, as well as how to best support co
mmunities looking to provide online access to their history. She holds an
M.S.L.S. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill\, an M.A. in
public history from North Carolina State University\, and a B.A. in histo
ry and political science from UNC Greensboro.
