X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Join us for a special storytime at North B
ranch Library!&nbsp\; Author and illustrator Aditi Raychoudhury will be re
 ading their debut picture book <em>Mimi\, the Little Umbrella</em>.&nbsp\;
We will follow the story with crafts.&nbsp\;<strong></strong></p>\n<p><st
 rong></strong></p>\n<p><strong>About Mimi\, the Little Umbrella </strong>b
 y Jeff Narvis &amp\; Aditi Raychoudhury</p>\n<p>In a very busy town\, on a
very busy street\,&nbsp\;was a very busy umbrella store with lots of fanc
y umbrellas. At the very back of which lives Mimi. So plain is she that no
body even notices her. But.. shhhh&hellip\;&nbsp\; Mimi has a secret\, whi
ch makes her special&hellip\;&nbsp\;very special&nbsp\;indeed.?? Is she fo
rever relegated to the back of the store ? Or will she ever see the light
of day? What is her secret?&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This story is ultimately a time
ly and timeless reminder to find joy in things in the simplest of things e
ven when the world seems dark and stormy!</p>\n<p><strong></strong></p>\n<
p><strong>About Aditi Raychoudhury</strong></p>\n<p>I am an architect and
sustainable building designer and analyst by training. But\, I could never
quite outgrow my love of picture books.&nbsp\; I grew up in a small town
in India where\, I spent most of my very hot afternoons roaming the hills
around my house and delighting in the smells and tastes of grass\, trees\,
fruits and flowers.&nbsp\; This naturally made me curious about the syner
getic underpinnings of nature and taking care of it\,&nbsp\;which\, I aime
d to fulfil through a focus on science in school. I was also enamored with
its irreplaceable beauty\, and I satisfied my creative cravings&nbsp\;thr
ough&nbsp\;drawing&nbsp\;and painting.&nbsp\; By the time for college roll
ed around\, I decided to combine my two loves and ended up getting a bache
lor&rsquo\;s degree in Architecture\, and an M.S. &nbsp\;in Sustainable Bu
ilding Design. This non-traditional background coupled with my freeform In
dian childhood\, gives me the ability to bring a unique perspective and di
stinctive but variable style that is best suited for the purpose and backg
round of the story. You can check out my illustrations at <a href="http://
