 f the Peepeekisis Cree Nation. In his presentation\, &ldquo\;Truth\, Recon
 ciliation\, and the Media &ndash\; Nelson Bird&rsquo\;s Experiences&rdquo\
 ;\, he will reflect on the meaning of Truth and Reconciliation / Orange Sh
 irt Day from his personal perspective\, sharing observations he has witnes
 sed throughout his life.</p>\n<p>This special gathering will also feature 
 an opening blessing\, greetings from RPL leadership\, a powerful drum hono
 ur song\, and a vibrant jingle dance performance\, followed by bannock and
  tea with the community.</p>\n<p>This event is held in honour of National 
 Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Part of <a href="https://www.saskculture
 .ca/programs/saskculture-programs/culture-days">Culture Days</a> programmi
 ng\, thanks to funding from <a href="https://www.saskculture.ca/">SaskCult
 ure</a> through the support of SaskLotteries.</p>\n<p><strong>About Nelson
  Bird</strong></p>\n<p>Nelson Bird is a member of Peepeekisis Cree Nation.
 &nbsp\;After earning a journalism degree\, Nelson spent 26 years at CTV Sa
 skatchewan News as a reporter\, anchor\, producer\, cameraperson\, and ass
 ignment editor. He's the longest serving host and producer of &ldquo\;Indi
 genous Circle&rdquo\;. His many achievements include winning regional\, na
 tional and international awards and received a lifetime achievement award.
  Nelson left CTV in July 2024 and is now a lecturer with the First Nations
  University Indigenous Communications Arts (INCA) journalism program</p>\n
