 .</p>\n<p>USC professor Dr. Karen Lloyd will discuss her hunt for life ben
 eath Earth&rsquo\;s surface.&nbsp\;In&nbsp\;her 2025 book&nbsp\;<em>Intrat
 errestrials: Discovering the Strangest Life on Earth</em>\, she shares wha
 t scientists are learning about microbial life&nbsp\;and how research expe
 ditions to the planet's most extreme locations broaden&nbsp\;our&nbsp\;und
 erstanding&nbsp\;of what life&nbsp\;is and how its earliest forms may have
  evolved.</p>\n<p>Dr. Lloyd investigates life&nbsp\;from the bottom of the
  ocean\, through the jungles of Central America\, to the high-altitude vol
 canoes of the Andes\, examining different&nbsp\;life forms living&nbsp\;in
  foreign and extreme conditions.</p>\n<p>Dr. Lloyd is the Wrigley Chair in
  Environmental Studies\, Professor of Earth Sciences\, and Professor of Ma
 rine and Environmental Biology at the University of Southern California. S
 he has contributed to the discovery&nbsp\;of&nbsp\;strange new types&nbsp\
 ;of microbial&nbsp\;life&nbsp\;inside Earth's crust.</p>\n<p>Copies of <em
