 nection to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Each year\, Sept
 ember 30 holds historical significance\, acknowledging over 500 years of c
 olonial oppression and discrimination against Indigenous people in Canada.
 &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This no-holds-barred presentation will conclude on a posit
 ive note\, outlining what we can do to change the narrative and stressing 
 the importance of 'Every Child Matters.' Due to the subject matter\, atten
 dance is at the discretion of parents\, but it is recommended that partici
 pants be 16 years of age or older.</p>\n<p>Kate welcomes thoughts and ques
 tions in addition to the respect and energy attendees bring to the talk. P
 articipants are invited to wear an orange shirt if they have one.</p>\n<h5

 w&rsquo\;alaams Band\, Royal House of Niis&rsquo\;gumiik\, Giluts&rsquo\;a
 aw Tribe\,&nbsp\;Gispudwada Clan&nbsp\;(Orca)\,&nbsp\;is a notable speaker
  on the culture\, history\, spirituality\, and justice issues of Indigenou
 s people\, and a singer\, drummer\, storyteller\, and writer. A retired se
 condary school vice principal and teacher\, she was one of the first Indig
 enous educators to teach full semesters of pan-Indigenous history\, bringi
 ng accurate\, unflinching truths to her students. She stays engaged in the
  arts and is a singer with the Red Cedar Sisters.</p>\n<p>Funded by the Ci
