 -festival/6b25-kevin-brockmeier/">Kevin Brockmeier</a> has published nine
books of (mostly) fiction\, including\, most recently\, a collection of ve
ry short stories called <i>The Ghost Variations: One Hundred Stories</i>.
His work has been translated into eighteen languages and has appeared in t
 he <i>New Yorker</i>\, <i>Granta</i>\, <i>McSweeney's</i>\, the <i>Oxford
 American</i>\, <i>The Best American Short Stories</i>\, and the O. Henry P
 rize Stories anthology. He teaches frequently at the Iowa Writers&rsquo\;
Workshop and lives in Little Rock\, Arkansas\, where he was raised. Brockm
eier will be reading from new work.</p>\n<h2>About the books:</h2>\n<p><i>
Metallic Realms</i> is a wildly inventive and entertaining novel about a s
ci-fi writing group whose fictional universe and personal dramas begin to
collide and collapse. Perennially single\, socially awkward\, and drowning
in debt\, Michael Lincoln has seen his life turn out nothing like the int
ergalactic pulp heroes of his youth. But these are pedestrian concerns&mda
sh\;he has a greater calling\, and that is to preserve for all posterity t
he greatest series in the history of the written word: The Star Rot Chroni
 cles. <i>Metallic Realms</i> is a genre-breaking ode to golden-age science
fiction\, friendship\, creativity\, and the power and perils of storytell
ing.</p>\n<p><i>The Ghost Variations: One Hundred Stories</i> is a collect
ion of very short flash fiction pieces addressing themes of souls\, haunti
 ng\, ghostliness\, and the afterlife.</p>\nhttps://centralarkansaslibrarys
