Many people in science and medicine carry powerful lived experiences &mdash\; moments of insight\, conflict\, wonder \, and ethical complexity &mdash\; but translating that experience into fi ction can feel daunting. In this intensive workshop\, participants will le arn how to draw on their professional lives to generate compelling narrati ves using the tools of autofiction and imaginative storytelling.
\nW e&rsquo\;ll explore ethical fictionalization\, narrative voice\, structure \, and how to balance scientific detail with emotional depth. Through a mi x of guided writing\, discussion\, and example texts\, attendees will leav e with new work-in-progress and a deeper understanding of how lived knowle dge can fuel creative writing.
\nNo prior writing experience is required. Open to adults 18+ with a background in any scientific or cl inical field. Registration is required.
\nMiah O'Malley is a fiction writer\, workshop instructor\, and registered nurse with over a decade of experience in cli nical settings. She holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing\ , where she focused on science-informed fiction and narrative structure. H er background in nursing and pharmacology directly informs her fiction\, w hich explores intersections between medicine\, memory\, and speculative fu tures. She was selected for AWP&rsquo\;s Writer to Writer program and has work forthcoming in Exposed Bone\, the Graveside Press anthology Witchcraf t\, Tethered Literary Journal\, and Hyphen Punk.
