Family Support Groups are for anyone affec ted by blood cancer and are free. There are currently 130 local groups\, w ith the number of groups growing each year. Groups generally meet once a m onth. A credentialed healthcare professional who has extensive oncology an d group work experience facilitates all Family Support Groups. They are pr epared to handle sensitive issues such as loss\, guilt\, treatment questio ns and family stressors.

The groups are not a replacement for psyc hotherapy. They're designed to provide mutual support and education to mem bers who may feel a little less alone by meeting with others whose situati ons are similar to their own. Family Support Groups can be looked at as a coping tool\, in conjunction with your or a loved one's medical treatment.
