Speculative fiction is the umbrella term f or fiction that operates beyond the physical laws of the known world. It i ncludes works of fantasy\, science fiction\, horror\, and the supernatural \, along with many other creative variations.

\nMichele Tracy Berger \;is the director of the Baker-Nord Institute for the Humanities at Case Weste rn Reserve University. She has a faculty appointment in the Departments of English and Religious Studies. \;Her short fiction\, poetry and creat ive nonfiction have appeared in \;100 Word Story\, \; Apex Magazine\, \;Glint Literary Journal\, \;The Wild Word\, \;Blood and Bourbon\, \;FIYAH: Maga zine of Black Speculative Fiction\, \;Midnight and Indigo\, \;Oracle: Fine Arts Review\, \;Carolina Woman\, \;Ms.\, and various anthologies. She is the 2019 winner o f the Carl Brandon Kindred Award from the Carl Brandon Society for her sto ry "Doll Seed\," which would become the title story of her 2024 collection \, Doll Seed. \;Much of her wor k explores psychological horror\, especially through issues of race and ge nder.
\nAfter working in the steel mills of Cleveland\, Ohio\, \ ;Kevin P. Keating \;became an instructor of English a t several colleges and universities. His short stories and essays have app eared in nearly one hundred literary journals. His first novel \;T he Natural Order of Things \;was a finalist for the Los Angel es Times First Fiction Award. His second novel \;The Captive Condition \;was a \;Publishers Weekly \;pick of the week (starred review) and was featured at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con . He is the recipient of several literary awards\, including the Cleveland Arts Prize\, the James Thurber House Award\, and a Creative Workforce Fel lowship. His newest novel is the speculative triptych\, Bridge of Dreams.
\nHugo- and Nebula-nominated author \;Marie Vi bbert&rsquo\;s short fiction has appeared over 100 times in t op magazines like \;Nature\, \;Analog\, and \;Clarkesworld\, and been translated into Czech\, Chinese and Vie tnamese. Her debut novel\, \;Galactic Hellcats\, was long lis ted by the British Science Fiction Award and her work has been called &ldq uo\;everything science fiction should be&rdquo\; by the Oxford Culture Rev iew. She also writes poetry\, comics\, and computer games. By day she is a computer programmer in Cleveland\, Ohio. Her latest novel is Andrei and the Hellcats.
