 ng>History of the organization</strong></span></p>\n<p><em>Miami Pioneers:
 </em></p>\n<p>This group was founded in 1936 by prominent early settlers a
 nd business leaders who arrived in the Miami area before 1900. Founding me
 mbers included prominent figures like John W. G. Seybold\, a German immigr
 ant and businessman\, and Isidor Cohen\, the first permanent Jewish settle
 r in the region.</p>\n<p><em>Natives of Dade:&nbsp\;</em></p>\n<p>This org
 anization was created in 1986 by a group of local history enthusiasts who 
 were born in Dade County.</p>\n<p><em>The merger:&nbsp\;</em></p>\n<p>The 
 two groups combined on July 8\, 2002\, to create the current organization\
