Archivist &\; Special Collections Libra rian Dana Bronson and local novelist &\; Writing Education Specialist S harma Shields share a passion for libraries\, research\, and critical arch ival work. Join them each month as they share exciting and often surprisin g items from the Central Library's Fuller Collection\, which are kept in a climate-controlled vault at the Central Library. Highlighted items might include rare books and manuscripts\, local records and photographs\, and/o r maps and correspondence. This month's theme is "Illuminated Manuscripts" and will showcase rare texts from the library vault and the work of local artist Hannah Charlton\, an artist who specializes in illuminated manuscr ipts. \;
\nAbout the artist:
\nHannah Charlton studied art at Whitworth University\, where she first became interested in mediev al art. This was encouraged by an internship at the Grü\;newald Guild\ , an arts retreat center that holds classes in stained glass\, calligraphy \, and icon writing. One of Hannah's series is based on the 15th century < em>The Book of the City of Ladies by Christine de Pizan\, a collectio n of women from myth and history. \;She also teaches workshops on illu minated manuscripts and has been an artist resident at The Hive.
