  Special Collections has taken on the challenge of digitizing over 10\,000
  maps that highlight decades of ecological and social change in Southwest 
 Florida. This presentation will explore their ongoing efforts to make the 
 collection more accessible and relevant to today&rsquo\;s researchers\, co
 llaborations with environmental scientists and faculty at The Walter Schoo
 l and some of the interesting items that have surfaced during the project.
  Uncharted Territory will provide a behind-the-scenes look into how histor
 ic maps and modern technology can combine to put Southwest Florida cartogr
 aphy back on the map!</p>\n<p>Victoria Jones is the University Archivist f
 or Florida Gulf Coast University. A native Floridian\, Jones earned her Ma
 ster&rsquo\;s Degree in History from the University of North Florida and a
  Master of Library and Information Science from University of Southern Mis
 sissippi. Prior to her current position at FGCU\, she was the Archives and
  Special Collections Librarian at Mississippi University for Women. In add
 ition\, Jones teaches American History and Archival Studies courses as par
 t of FGCU&rsquo\;s Department of Political Science\, Public Administration
 \, &amp\; History. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p><strong>Mapping Our Past is made possib
