Although Paul Gains has photographed incre dible wildlife around the world - polar bears in Svalbard\, jaguars in the Brazilian Pantanal and pumas in Patagonia - snowy owls remain his favouri te species. That&rsquo\;s largely because he has spent 12 years observing and photographing migrating &lsquo\;snowies&rsquo\; in the fields near Elm ira\, Ontario. Over that period he has remained in touch with leading rese archers to better understand the behaviour of this arctic visitor. In this presentation he will share dozens of images he has taken and tell the sto ries of individual owls he has encountered.

Paul Gains has been a full time freelance journalist for
three decades and in that time his stories and images have been published
in hundreds of periodicals around the world including Time\, the New York
Times\, Outside Magazine\, the National Post\, the Globe and Mail\, the To
ronto Star and Canadian Geographic. He is a long time resident of Cambridg
e\, Ontario.
