Local teacher and published poet Matthew F riday (from the UK) will lead the audience through an exploration of the m ost famous scenes and moments from Hamlet. This will include the most famous moment of all: the "to be or not to be" speech. Hamlet \;has so many memorable moments\, and it is the longest of Shakespea re's plays\, so Matthew will select key scenes from the \;beginning to the end of the play. \; Walk away with a better understanding of the language and appreciation of its poetic brilliance. Audience members will be invited to join in with the reading - no experience needed! Or just sit \, listen and enjoy. Throughout the presentation\, there will be plenty of opportunities for questions \;and discussion. \;

About the Presenter:

Matthew James Friday \;is a writer and teacher from England. He has several degrees from the UK\, in cluding being a public school teacher. He has taught K-8 students in schoo ls all around the world. He met his Bend-born wife Jill in Germany! Matthe w is also a professional storyteller for children and drama teacher. For m any years now\, Matthew has run after-school Shakespeare-themed drama club s\, helping students create and produce slimmed down versions of many of S hakespeare's plays\, including Hamlet! Since arriving in the US a t the height of the COVID pandemic\, Matthew has become a father\, run hal f-marathons\, learned to drive a car for the first time\, and had three po etry books published (The Residents\, The Be-All and the End-All \ ;and Strange Beauty) with the fourth - a full length collect ion of 100 poems titled Wunderkammer coming soon! He now lives wi th his wife and daughter in Bend\, Oregon. \;
