What does freedom sound like? During the C ivil Rights Movement\, music became both balm and battleground&mdash\;a fo rce that steadied marchers&rsquo\; footsteps and stirred a nation awake. Y et those freedom songs were born long before the Movement\, with roots str etching back centuries&mdash\; rising from spirituals\, praise traditions and chants of resilience. \;

\nThis February\, j oin us for Sounds of Freedom: A Musical Journey of Liberation tracing the evolution of protest and praise music through the lens of African American creativity and courage. This performance invites audiences of all ages to feel the lineage of that struggle echo into the present\, held in a power ful dialogue with the AARLCC exhibition&mdash\;featuring the iconic images of Spider Martin that captured the spirit\, stakes\, and unwavering deter mination of the Selma marches. \;
