Topic Description: With r educed U.S. support for NATO and Ukraine\, Europe faces strategic uncertai nty. The Trump administration has signaled an intention to reduce its secu rity role in Europe. What are America&rsquo\;s stakes in NATO and Europe&r squo\;s strategic dilemmas\, and how might Europe respond?
\nFacilitator: Richard Reiter is a scholar-in-residence at the Uni versity of North Florida where he lectures on European Security and on Cli mate Change Policy. He served for over thirty years as a Foreign Service O fficer with the U.S. State Department\, achieving Senior Foreign Service r ank and working primarily in Europe\, Brazil and Afghanistan\, most recent ly departing Brazil in July 2023. \;His work included service as \ ;Chargé\; d'affaires \;in Iceland\, as the Director of the State Department office responsible for the U.S. relationship with NATO\, and i n the White House as Special Advisor to then-Vice President Joe Biden.&nbs p\;

Each meeting begins with a video lecture on the discussion topic presented by Jeffrey S. Morton\, the Pierrepont Comfort Chair in Politica l Science at Florida Atlantic University and a Fellow at the Foreign Polic y Association and is followed by facilitator commentary and facilitator-le d discussion. \;
