The Kraken (giant squid)\, the platypus\, and the coelacanth are all mythological creatures that really exist today. What makes them different from the legendary Bigfoot or Florida&rsquo\;s own cryptids like Wampus Cat\, Skunk Ape\, and Hog Kong? Physical evidence that they exist! Scientists began to earnestly verify the existence of th e Kraken\, the platypus\, and the coelacanth only after irrefutable eviden ce spurred them to look harder.
\n\;
\nSo\, what would yo u do if you came across a cryptid? There are numerous historical (and even modern-day) eyewitness accounts of a Bigfoot in Alachua County and Wampus Cats in North Florida. If you saw one\, would you know how to look for an d document evidence of your sighting? Could you be the one who gives scien tists the irrefutable evidence that will make them curious enough to final ly find a Bigfoot?
\n\;
\nJoin Hands On Gainesville to ex plore and practice some hands-on forensic techniques you can use to discov er and collect scientific evidence just in case you ever come across a cry ptid. Hands-on activities will include making plaster of Paris footprint c asts\, analyzing hair samples\, and more as we delve into historical accou nts of cryptid sightings and learn about the field of forensic science.
