  the jazz field starting as &nbsp\;a teenager attending The International 
 Art of Jazz Workshop in the late 70s. The son of jazz bassist Jamil Nasser
 \, he progressed from there to jam sessions with jazz luminaries like Lou 
 Donaldson and others at venues like the Jazz Center and the Village Gate i
 n New York. Following graduation from Howard University\, he immersed hims
 elf in the thriving jazz scene throughout the DC area with performances at
  Blues Alley and the Kennedy Center\, among others\, and overseas\, includ
 ing throughout Africa\, Europe\, including the UK\, where he played with C
 ourtney Pine and many others.</p>\n<p>His recent CDs include <em>The Blue 
 House Sessions</em>\, with his quintet\, and<em> A Soldier's Story</em>\, 
 a companion piece to his book\, <em>Upright</em> B<em>ass: The Musical Lif
 e and Legacy of Jamil Nasser</em>\, a musical tribute to his father\, the 
 late great bassist Jamil Nasser.</p>\n<p>Muneer has taught at many educati
 onal institutions\, teaching master classes and giving lectures in Kassel\
 , Germany\, the Frankfurt Book Fair\, JJA Academy London\, Berklee College
  of Music\, Howard University\, Jazz Education Network Conference\, and Th
 e Frank Islam Symposium at Montgomery College. He is currently developing 
 a documentary about Memphis jazz and blues.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>More info: <a h
