Mahjong is a \;tile-based game develop ed in the 19th century in China\, which has spread worldwide since the ear ly 20th century. Four players commonly play it with 144 tiles based on Chi nese characters and symbols. The game and its regional variants are widely played throughout \;East \;and Southeast Asia and have become pop ular in \;Western countries. We will be learning and playing t he Hong Kong version of Mahjong.
\nIn the first hour\, we w ill become familiar with the tiles\, rules\, and how to set up the game. I n the second hour\, we usually get through 2-3 hands\, allowing participan ts to practice what we have been taught.
