Examining hope and friendship by role play \, multimedia\, and discussion\, Jim Gould and Ted Hazelgrove will explore two virtues exemplified in The Lord of the Rings\, which are cen tral to being strong and resilient in challenging times. Presented in cele bration of National Library Week\, this program highlights the enduring po wer of stories and libraries in connecting communities\, inspiring reflect ion\, and fostering shared values. JRR Tolkein's The Lord of the Rings trilogy portrays an epic quest in which\, in addition to military mi ght\, personal character and social relationships are central to the succe ss of good over evil. This presentation examines hope and friendship and h ow they enable us to reflect on their place in our own quest to live well in challenging times.
