 g celebration that ends on Fat Tuesday - Marted&igrave\; grasso. The festi
 vities are a rich tapestry of history\, culture\, and joyous celebrations 
 whose roots date back to ancient Roman rituals. With this presentation\, w
 e will &ldquo\;travel through time&rdquo\; to discover the roots and symbo
 lism of Carnevale while learning about its colorful modern traditions and 
 attractions. We will explore the different characteristics of famous Itali
 an Carnevale traditions: masks\, parades\, special foods\, local customs\,
  and much more.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Presenter Elisa Lucchi-Riester is a native 
 of Rome\, Italy. She is professor at Butler University in the Modern Langu
 age\, Literatures and Cultures Department\, teaching Italian and Spanish.<
 /p>\n<p>This event is presented in partnership with the Carmel Sister Citi
 es. Registration is required.</p>\n<hr />\n<p>If you are unable to attend
