X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Join us art collector and curator Doug McC
 raw for an immersive gallery walk through &ldquo\;Selma Is Now\,&rdquo\; a
  powerful exhibition presented in partnership with Broward Cultural Divisi
 on and on display at AARLCC through June 27\, 2026.</p>\n<p>This compellin
 g collection commemorates one of the most defining moments in American his
 tory through the lens of photojournalist James &ldquo\;Spider&rdquo\; Mart
 in. At just twenty-five years old\, Martin documented the 1965 voting righ
 ts demonstrations in Selma\, Alabama&mdash\;from the harrowing events of &
 ldquo\;Bloody Sunday&rdquo\; to the triumphant march to Montgomery. His st
 riking images\, widely circulated by national media\, exposed the brutal r
 eality faced by peaceful protesters and helped galvanize public support fo
 r the Voting Rights Act.</p>\n<p>Sixty years later\, &ldquo\;Selma Is Now&
 rdquo\; presents a newly restored selection of Martin&rsquo\;s photographs
 \, originally premiered at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in February
 2025. Drawn from the Spider Martin Photographic Archive at the Briscoe Cen
 ter for American History at the University of Texas\, these images offer a
  deeply human perspective on courage\, resilience\, and the enduring strug
 gle for justice.</p>\n<p>This gallery walk invites reflection on the lasti
 ng impact of the Selma marches and their significance for American democra
 cy. Don&rsquo\;t miss this opportunity to experience history through the e
 yes of a photographer who helped change it.</p>\n<p>Doug McCraw is an entr
 epreneur and art collector.&nbsp\; He co-founded IMX3\, a company building
  virtual reality platforms for museums\, galleries\, private collections\,
  and art projects and also FATVillage Metaverse\, an artist community in v
 irtual reality.&nbsp\; Doug has been involved in recent art exhibitions in
 cluding "Thornton Dial I Too Am Alabama" at AEIVA UAB in Birmingham\, "Myt
 hs\, Secrets\, Lies\, and Truths" at the Boca Raton Museum of Art\,&nbsp\;
  and "Selma Is Now" Spider Martin Photographs at EJI and&nbsp\; Montgomery
  Museum of Fine Arts in Montgomery and now at NAAM in Seattle\, WA.&nbsp\;
 &nbsp\; He is a co-founder and developer of FATVillage\, a city designated
  arts district in the Fort Lauderdale city center that grew into a communi
 ty of artists\, galleries\, theatres\, and artist studios.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; H
 e is also a co-founder of Art + Light + Space Studios with partners Peter
 Symons\, Leah Brown\, and Lutz Hofbauer. Doug is a graduate of the Univers
