X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>For Women's History Month\, we will discus
 s Mary Beard's feminist manifesto\,&nbsp\;<em><strong>Women &amp\; Power</
strong></em>.</p>\n<p>Mary Beard traces the origins of&nbsp\;misogyny to i
ts ancient roots\, examining the pitfalls of gender and the ways that hist
ory has mistreated strong women since time immemorial. As far back as Home
r&rsquo\;s&nbsp\;Odyssey\, Beard shows\, women have been prohibited from l
eadership roles in civic life\, public speech being defined as inherently
male.&nbsp\;With personal reflections on her own online experiences with s
exism\, Beard asks: If women aren&rsquo\;t perceived to be within the stru
cture of power\, isn&rsquo\;t it power itself we need to redefine?</p>\n<p
 >Copies of the book will be available at the circulation desk. The program
will take place in the Chicano Resource Center. Space is limited to ten p
articipants\, so pick up your copy soon!</p>\n<p>Light refreshments provid
