 of 13 Heritage Areas certified by the State of Maryland under the&nbsp\;Ma
 ryland Heritage Areas Authority. Heritage Areas contribute to the state an
 d local economy through tourism. In December 2020\, both a&nbsp\;State-wid
 e Economic Impact Study&nbsp\;and a&nbsp\;Maryland Milestones Economic Imp
 act Study&nbsp\;were completed\, detailing their contributions to the stat
 e and local economies.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Certified in 2001\, Anacostia Trails
  Heritage Area encompasses over 100 square miles of Northern Prince George
 s County &ndash\; bordered by Washington\, D.C. to the south\, Montgomery 
 County to the West\, Howard and Anne Arundel County to the North and encom
 passing portions of Bowie\, Glenn Dale\, and Cheverly to the East. This ea
 stern boundary was amended in 2017. In 2025\, the Heritage area was again 
 amended to include the entirety of Prince George&rsquo\;s County. The Heri
 tage Area is managed by Anacostia Trails Heritage Area Inc.</p>\n<p><stron

 agan Baco is the Executive Director of the nonprofit Anacostia Trails Heri
 tage Area in Prince George's County\, Maryland. The organization creates a
 nd supports cultural tourism and community development projects that enhan
 ce public spaces for residents\, neighbors\, and visitors alike. The herit
 age area is part of a unique Maryland statewide program and is one of only
  four states to coordinate this type of work. Meg has an academic backgrou
 nd in Historic Preservation and Environmental Design with degrees from Cle
 mson University and SUNY Buffalo. With 20-years in the field\, Baco strive
 s to create\, fund\, and complete projects that unite people and place. Me
 agan serves as Board Chair of the Maryland Museums Association and is on t
 he Board of Directors of the National Preservation Institute and Maryland 
 Tourism Coalition. Meg lives in Baltimore and spends their free time at Cr
