 n February 1974 by artist Peter Drew\, who gathered a group of painters un
 ited by their love of watercolor. From that shared passion\, the Society w
 as born with an original charter membership of 66 artists\, and its first 
 exhibition followed just months later in November of that same year.</p>\n
 <p>Fast forward fifty colorful years\, and the Miami Watercolor Society ha
 s grown into a vibrant community of more than 120 members. Recently celebr
 ating our 50th anniversary\, we continue to thrive as a nonprofit organiza
 tion welcoming a broad spectrum of water media painters from curious begin
 ners to seasoned professionals.</p>\n<p>Our mission is to inspire\, educat
 e\, and share the joy and beauty of watercolor with both our members and t
 he wider community. We do this through monthly demonstrations at our meeti
 ngs\, two annual juried exhibitions\, monthly skill-building classes\, org
 anized paint-outs for landscape painters\, two workshops each year with na
 tionally recognized instructors\, an annual art teacher workshop\, a stude
 nt exhibition\, and a variety of community outreach programs.</p>\n<p>Comm
 unity service is at the heart of who we are. Our members generously give t
 heir time and talents to teach\, mentor\, and encourage an appreciation fo
 r watercolor. Through our Teacher Outreach Program\, we have offered an an
 nual hands-on watercolor workshop for Miami-Dade art teachers for twenty-f
 ive years\, empowering them to bring the magic of watercolor into their cl
 assrooms. This is followed by our beloved student watercolor exhibition\, 
 for grades kindergarten through senior high school\, which welcomes studen
 ts and their families to a celebratory opening each year. 2025 was the 40t
 h year of our student show.</p>\n<p>The Miami Watercolor Society is\, abov
 e all\, a joyful place\, a community where artists gather to learn\, share
