Over the past fifty years\, a growing Lati no population has dramatically \;reshaped \;Elgin\, Chicagoland\, and beyond. In this presentation\, Dr. \;Antonio \;Ramirez\, profe ssor of history at Elgin Community College\, will share histories \;of struggle and triumph from Elgin's Latino community.

Dr. \;Anton io \;Ramirez \;is Associate Professor of History at Elgin Communit y College where he teaches courses in U.S. \;history\, Latinx history\ , and American government. \;Ramirez \;has worked as a journalist\ , educator\, and community organizer across the Midwest and Mexico. He cur rently directs \;the \;Chicagolandia Oral History Project \;wh ich \;documents the history of the lives\, work\, and culture of Latin o suburban communities around Chicago.
