To celebrate the 96th Anniversary of the R eading Town Forest\, the Town Forest Committee\, Department of Public Work s\, Reading Public Library\, and Scout Troop 702 have a goal of planting 5 00 trees this year\, \;and we need your help! \;

This will take place at the Town Forest with parking at the Compost Center on Strou t Avenue. \; Participants will walk the trails to the planting area an d get directions and supplies from the volunteer there. \;

Thi s year&rsquo\;s planting will feature five native North American tree spec ies: White Oak (Quercus alba)\, River Birch (Betula nigra)\, American Plum (Prunus americana)\, Flowering Dogwood (Cornus florida)\, and Tulip Popla r (Liriodendron tulipifera). Each species was chosen for its ecological va lue and resilience\, providing habitat\, food for wildlife\, and beauty fo r generations to come.
