Etzanoa was a historic city of the Wichita people located near the Arkansas River in present-day Arkansas City\, Kan sas. The settlement existed from roughly 1450 to 1700 and is believed to h ave had a population of as many as 20\,000 Wichita people. The site was re discovered in 2017 when a teenager found a cannonball linked to a Spanish battle that occurred there in 1601. Shortly afterward\, the Etzanoa Conser vancy was formed to preserve the site and educate the public about its imp ortance.

Join Etzanoa Conservancy archaeologist Georgia Zavala as she discusses her experiences working in archaeology and her efforts to pr eserve and share the legacy of Etzanoa.
