Join us as we welcome Mollie Smith Waters a writer and a college instructor at Lurleen B. Wallace Community College where she teaches American literature and the humanities. Waters will be d iscussing F. Scott Fitzgerald an author by many to be considered one of th e greatest American authors to have ever lived. With the work The Great Ga tsby\, Fitzgerald became an overnight success\, and it is a novel that con tinues to be read and studied by students across the world. What most peop le do not know about Fitzgerald is that the State of Alabama played a role in shaping him. Fitzgerald spent time in the military in Alabama\, and he married Montgomery socialite Zelda Sayre. In fact\, the only museum in th e world dedicated to the Fitzgeralds is located in Montgomery\, Alabama. Z elda and her family&rsquo\;s impact on both Fitzgerald&rsquo\;s life and w riting must be understood by anyone trying to gain a deeper level of meani ng when studying Fitzgerald&rsquo\;s works. By taking a look at his Alabam a connections and their influences on Fitzgerald\, one will better compreh end the great man&rsquo\;s writings. \;
