On Thursday\, April 30\, at 6:30 PM\, the Brand Associates presents a screening of the Wim Wenders film Pina\, A Film for Pi na Bausch. \;The film will be followed by an informa l discussion about the artist and her legacy as a pioneer of dance and cho reography. Pina is part of the Associates&rsquo\; REEL ART Film S eries\, which showcases limited-release documentaries on the arts followed by in-person conversations with experts.
\nPina is acclaim ed Director Wim Wenders&rsquo\; film featuring the \;Tanztheater Wuppe rtal Pina Bausch. Pina Bausch was an inspirational dancer and choreographe r with exceptional vision. \; During more than 20 years of personal fr iendship between Bausch and Wenders they never lost sight of their goal to make a dance film together. Bausch died suddenly in 2009 while she and We nders were preparing to start filming. After a period of mourning\, Wender s rethought his cinematic vision and made a film &ldquo\;for Pina Bausch.& rdquo\; \; \;
\nWenders takes the audience on a sensual\, vi sually stunning journey of discovery into a new dimension: straight onto t he stage with her legendary dance ensemble and following the dancers out o f the theatre into the City of Wuppertal and surrounding areas which for 3 5 years was the epicenter of Pina&rsquo\;s creativity. \;
\nFoll owing the screening\, \;Glendale C ommunity College Dance Department \;Chair Victor Robles&n bsp\;will discuss the film and the work of Pina Bausch with the audience.& nbsp\;
\nAbout the speaker: \;Victor Robles is the Chair of the Dance Department at Glendale Community College. He teach es Jazz\, Modern\, Dance History\, Yoga and Physical Reintegration. He is an alumnus of the GCC Dance Department and received his BA in Dance at Cal ifornia State University\, Long Beach. He received his MFA from Florida St ate University. He was a member of the Gloria Newman Dance Theater and has worked with Bella Lewitzki\, Long Beach Ballet\, and the Francisco Martin ez Dance Theatre. \;
\nAbout the REEL ART Film Series: Launched in 2012 by Brand Associates\, REEL ART presents limited- release documentary films focused on the arts\, artists\, and cultural top ics\, followed by in-person discussions with experts.
