The Red Cross provides about 40% of our na tion&rsquo\;s blood and blood components\, all from generous volunteer don ors. But supply can&rsquo\;t always meet demand because only about 3% of a ge-eligible people donate blood yearly. Each new donor helps us meet patie nt needs.
\nAt the blood drive\, donors are greeted\, complete a qui ck health screening\, and give blood under the care of trained professiona ls. Each donation is then tested and processed to help patients in need of transfusions.
\nThe American Red Cross is a humanitarian organizati on dedicated to preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies. Through the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors\ , the Red Cross provides lifesaving blood and blood products\, supports di saster relief efforts\, offers health and safety training\, and assists mi litary families and veterans.
