\nDuval Audubon Society's mission: Connecting people with nature\, conse rving and restoring natural ecosystems\, focusing on birds and other wildl ife.
\nAndrew Schumann's career at White Oak Conser vation has allowed him to work with some of the world&rsquo\;s most endang ered animals. He has a strong interest recovering wild populations of anim als through rearing and release programs. At White Oak he has been able to do this\, and has worked with Andean condor\, whooping crane\, Mississipp i sandhill crane\, and Florida grasshopper sparrow reintroduction\, transl ocation\, and supplementation projects. In 2015\, when he learned the last Florida grasshopper sparrows were about to become extinct within remnant patches of Florida dry prairie\, White Oak Conservation and many passionat e colleagues and organizations teamed up to prevent this from happening. A ndrew and team developed and implemented the first conservation breeding p rogram for the species\, and today\, thanks to the collaboration amongst m any organizations not only are wild populations of Florida grasshopper spa rrow are for the first time increasing\, but protected Florida dry prairie habitat is also increasing.
\nAbout the film: This documentary created by Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Wildpath\, highligh ts the endangered Florida Grasshopper Sparrow\, with only about 80 remaini ng in the wild. Biologist Fabiola 'Fabby' Baeza-Tarin and an unexpected te am\, including Andrew Schumann\, are working to protect these sparrows\, t heir dwindling habitat\, and the headwaters of the Everglades.
