It was not only inspired by the science of the day but encouraged generations of scientists to make their own discov eries. In this panel Sarah Hodge-Wetherbe from Geekgal will tell us about the real science that influenced the many versions of Star Trek\, and the scientific breakthroughs that Star Trek helped to later inspire sixty year s later. \;
\nAbout the Presenter:
\nSara h Hodge-Wetherbe's dad took her to her first Star Trek convention as a chi ld\, sealing her future as a card carrying geek. By day she is the head li brarian for teen services with the Springfield\, MA City Library\, but as Geekgal she tours around new England lecturing on various aspects of g eek culture. She's performed for all sorts of venues from The Norman Rockw ell Museum to the Massachusetts Library Association. She has also staffed many conventions\, including a three year stint as head of guest relations at Anime Boston. She advises ignoring the dog park\, thinks Bruce Banner is the best Avenger\, and takes her tea earl gray and hot.
\n†‹Sarah lectures on a variety of geek cultural topics. From panels for fa ns to professional panels on using geek culture in educational settings\, she has something for every event. She has been touring and speaking for o ver 15 years.
